As an all-volunteer organization, we are constantly in need of volunteers to assist with programs, sit on committees and give of their talents. Following is a list of functions we put on or participate in with some ideas of needs for each. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the following events please drop us an e-mail at
finneganrm@aol.com.
Hobby Fair This is held each March at Pickering Barn. It is an opportunity to interact with the public to make them aware of LEO and what it offers the community. Assistance is needed to provide an activity that allows hands-on participation by attendees as well as manpower to man the booth and disseminate information about LEO.
Community Forum Generally held in May. If you know of a topic or speaker that would be of interest to the DD community, please share your ideas. This event is to educate the community on relevant needs. We can also use assistance with registration, setup and donation of snacks or drinks. Depending on the topic and audience, we sometimes could use assistance with child care as well.
Challenge Day Races Held in July and September in conjunction with the Rotary Clubs, we offer races in both Issaquah and Sammamish. This is a fun day for participants and family. If you know of young people with disabilities that would like to race in a soapbox car, this is their chance. Partnered with a trained driver, this is a safe and fun experience. We need assistance with registration, organizing riders and drivers and muscles to get cars turned around and back up the hill. If you have a company or product to advertise, we can put your name on our on cars (Just like Indi!). A fun way to publicize yourself in your community!
Adult Family Houses We currently have two houses in Issaquah. As with any house, we constantly have a need to repair and upkeep both the house and yard. If you have a handy man talent or like to do yard work, were sure to find a job for you.
